003 — Rogers Park, Locally-Made Armatures vs Tourist-Driven Armatures

This past assignment on armatures, I choose to focus on the Rogers Park Neighborhood Chicago. During my research phase a found a number of armatures-like maps that focused on the social aspect in Rogers Park, I’d like to compare the two.

I could tell that this one is geared towards locals, most things that appeal to residents aren’t always open year around. The armadillo’s pillow which a popular bookstore is not Barnes and nobles but its a very eclectic place where books are literally stacked to the ceiling creating walls of books to comb through. This armature might also be for students as well as most of these restaurants have a lot of student discounts.

This armature is geared towards tourists as a lot of younger businesses are reflected. It also seems a bit bare to me as there is a lot things to do along the waterfront. However, I would point out that is not reflected.
